Matthew Healy rejoint Shamrock Rovers et y jouera une coupe d’Europe !
Les Francs Borains et le club le plus titré d’Irlande ont trouvé un accord pour le transfert de Matthew Healy cet hiver. Après 43 matchs sous le maillot borain depuis son arrivée en juillet 2023 (4 buts et 4 assists), le milieu de terrain rejoint Shamrock Rovers (21 titres de champion et 25 Coupes d’Irlande). Il aura l’opportunité de jouer en Conférence League face à Molde dans quelques semaines.
Matthew Healy était arrivé à Boussu sur la pointe des pieds, en provenance d’Ipswich et après 44 matchs de D2 et D1 irlandaise avec Cork City. Au RFB, il a progressé et a rapidement mis en lumière le talent détecté par le club. Premier buteur des Verts pour notre retour dans le football pro, il s’est imposé dans le 11 borain et est devenu indéboulonnable avec la sélection irlandaise U21.
Matthew a fait l’objet de plusieurs offres cet été puis cet hiver. La direction du RFB a finalement trouvé un accord avec Shamrock Rovers, jouant son rôle de club tremplin, cette fois vers la coupe d’Europe ! The Francs Borains and Ireland’s most successful club have reached an agreement for the transfer of Matthew Healy this winter. After 43 matches in the Borain jersey since his arrival in July 2023 (4 goals and 4 assists), the midfielder is joining Shamrock Rovers (21 league titles and 25 Irish Cups). He will have the opportunity to play in the Conference League against Molde in a few weeks.
Matthew Healy arrived in Boussu quietly, coming from Ipswich after 44 matches in the Irish second and first divisions with Cork City. At RFB, he progressed and quickly showcased the talent the club had identified. As the first scorer in our return to professional football, he established himself in the Borain starting XI and became a key player for the Irish U21 national team.
Matthew received several offers this summer and again this winter. The RFB management ultimately reached an agreement with Shamrock Rovers, fulfilling its role as a stepping-stone club, this time towards European competition !
